Yuliya Volkova has been dancing since middle school. She has a diverse dance background to include contemporary, modern jazz, hip-hop, dancehall, club dance and other dance genres. In September 2013 she attended a social dance party and saw Kizomba for the first time. Since that day Kizomba dancing has been her passion.
Around 2014 she started traveling to different countries to enhance her knowledge and training in Kizomba. Shortly thereafter she was invited to hold her first Kizomba workshops in Seoul, South Korea. In January 2015 she began teaching regular classes of Kizomba in her hometown and other cities in Russia and around Europe.
Her professional dance journey continued and she began assisting other well-known Kizomba teachers in Paris, France. Additionally she continued her own Kizomba workshops in other countries such as Japan, South Korea, Spain and Portugal.
In February 2020 she moved to Kyoto, Japan to share her international experience with the Japanese Kizomba dance community. From Kyoto to Tokyo and other cities throughout Japan, her workshops and classes are well-known firstly for being a comfortable & fun atmosphere.
Secondly for the constant improvement of her student’s fine movements, flexibility, attention, and concentration. Thirdly for the original curriculum, which is very logically organized.
Yuliya also has a huge amount of knowledge about the history of music and dance, musical structure, and rhythm, which helps her students to understand dance even better. She is known as a very friendly teacher, who helps every student with feedback and ideas on how to improve.
